Since the United Kingdom left the EU with effect from 31 December 2020, the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland constitutes the legal basis for regulating the economic relations between the two sides as well as for cooperation on selected political agendas.
