17/kunstakt - “measure/ negotiate/ convey”

11/17/2016 - Reading time: 3 minutes

In cooperation with the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, Fellner Wratzfeld & Partner Rechtsanwälte GmbH (fwp), which has been providing space for art for 12 years now, celebrated the grand opening of its art exhibition “17/kunstakt” on 17 November 2016. Some 200 guests from business, politics, law and art followed the invitation and enjoyed the extravagant exhibition on fwp’s modern premises.

The title of this year’s kunstakt project is “measure/ negotiate/ convey”. It should be understood to mean a verbatim reference to the many fields of work, life situations, and adversities with which both lawyers and artists are equally confronted but to also stretch beyond that. Under the artistic supervision of Professor Veronika Dirnhofer and Philip Patkowitsch (Academy of Fine Arts), eight young artists approached the subject and, again, successfully combined law and art. This year’s “kunstakt” was the twelfth anniversary of the art project which originated in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts and has become a fixture in the calendar of events over the last few years.

fwp partner Markus Fellner and the curator of Kunsthalle Wien, Lucas Gehrmann, inaugurated the event. “The works give an insight into the way contemporary young Austrian artists see art and they provide unconventional perspectives of the legal system”, said Gehrmann.

“We are living in an era of change – every day we measure our options, negotiate them, pause, reflect, and ultimately convey what we can possibly do, both in our professional and our private lives. To give expression to those developments we organise the kunstakt event – which is a particular highlight for us every year’”, said fwp partner Markus Fellner.

The works of the young artists will be exhibited for a whole year on the law firm’s premises where they can be purchased.
